How to Make Floating Candles at Home

Floating Candles

Floating candles can create a romantic and peaceful atmosphere. There are assorted kinds of floating candles from simple round shape candles to rose candles. If you love it and you have spare time in weekend, why don’t you try to make it by yourselves?

Follow these simple steps to make your own floating candles.

Material:

1. Wax. Choose wax that will be appropriate for your need. There are various wax available in market like paraffin, beeswax, gel, soy, and palm wax. You are allowed to blend tow kinds of wax to get better result. I prefer to blend soy and palm wax.

2. Wick. Choose wick that fits for the candle you’ll make. Here, we use untabbed zinc core wick.

3. A container or mold to hold the melted wax.

4. Color and fragrance for the candles (if desired).

5. Electric stove or hot plate for heat source.

6. Candle wax melting pot. If you don’t have candle wax melting pot, you can utilize large low pot for boiling the water and coffee can to melt the wax inside the pot.

Steps:

1. Melt your wax. While you are melting the wax, prepare the mold and the wick.

2. Pour fragrance and color essence into your meted wax.

3. Pour the melted wax into mold.

4. Wait for a while until you see skin layer over the top. Then take some pieces of wick and attach it to each your would-be floating candle.

5. After inserting all wicks into the mold, let the candles cool. Then, pop them out of the mold and trim the wick. Then, your floating candles are done.

Note: To prevent any accident, never leave the melting wax unattended. If possible, don’t go to bathroom. If you want to phone someone, please make sure you phone within sight of your wax. When you add fragrance into the wax, you must measure it carefully. Fragrance are very concentrated and can cause stain and skin irritation.
